Meridian Credit Union of Collingwood presented teddy bears to the children at Rainbows Georgian Triangle on Thursday, April 18.

Meridian Collingwood has been supporting our local Rainbows program with cuddly teddy bears since 2004. The children receive the bears on the final night of the program and absolutely love them.

Rainbows Georgian Triangle, registered with Rainbows Canada, offers bereavement support programs to grieving children at no cost to families. The Collingwood Rainbows program has operated twice yearly from 2000 through 2018. Enrollment in the Collingwood program has typically been 20 to 30 children and eight to 10 parents per session. The program is based out of Collingwood, but our catchment area includes Wasaga Beach, Clearview, and beyond. Families attend from as far away as Tiny, Shelburne, Eugenia and Meaford.

Rainbows Georgian Triangle (RGT) is solely run by volunteers, including the facilitators, site coordinators, program coordinator and board of directors. One hundred per cent of donor funds are used in the delivery of programming to grieving youth. Rainbows Georgian Triangle operates under Elephant Thoughts. RGT relies on funding from foundations, community groups, and private donations.

RGT follows the Rainbows Canada curriculum providing a wide variety of activities which include journaling, talking/sharing, arts and crafts, games, puppets, skits, songs, poems and storybooks. Healthy snacks are provided. Transportation is provided to families who require it and would not otherwise have the means to attend.
