The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (NVCA) issued a weather statement saying the flood risk is low right now.

In light of the Environment Canada issued rainfall warning predicting 30-50 mm of rain in the region (including Collingwood, Barrie, Midland, Coldwater and Orillia), the conservation authority is warning people to be cautious around rivers and streams. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and increased rainfall.

“The forecast rain in combination with wet conditions from rain over the weekend will result in elevated flows on all watercourses,” said the NVCA in a statement. “The public and especially children are advised to stay away from all bodies of water.”

In cases of heavy rain like today, there is a risk of life-threatening injury if a person falls into fast-moving water.
