Friday, Jan. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Eddie Bush Arena, the Brampton Admirals will be in town on a night when the Colts will salute the Shipbuilders of Collingwood's past.

Attending Friday night's game to represent the Shipbuilders of past glory is Dr. Don Paul, president of the hockey club from 1960 to 1971. Dr. Paul who is also known as “Mr. Collingwood”, will drop the puck in our ceremonial salute.

Any former Shipbuilders who would like to attend Friday’s game as guests of the Colts, are invited to reach out to Foster Williams at [email protected] for tickets.

Bruce Melhuish, owner of Sunset Grill and a Colts Board Member, is the mastermind behind this event.

Bruce stated, "Collingwood has had many championship hockey teams, including the Greenshirts, Blues, Glassmen and Blackhawks. But from the early 1900’s through 1986/87, one name stood tall - Shipbuilders!"

Shipbuilder craftsmen built our Eddie Bush arena and many in Collingwood are connected in some way to a former Shipbuilder hockey player.

Shipbuilders and their families are proud Collingwood community members. They make up the fabric of our home town. As a salute, at Friday’s game, our Collingwood Colts will wear the Shipbuilders jersey. You will not want to miss it.

On Saturday, Jan. 4 at 7:30 p.m., the division-leading Stouffville Spirit is in town for a game that will go a long way to determine who finishes in first place in the North Division.

The Colts would appreciate a full house for both games to help them win.

In off-ice news, Colt’s owner Dave Steele reports an important league trading deadline is approaching on Jan. 10. The Colts are very happy with their existing roster, but they have two open spots to fill out their 23-player roster. General manager, Dermott Anderson, and Colt’s scouts are looking for two diamonds to set them up for a long playoff run starting late February.

Colt’s tickets are available at the Eddie Bush box office at 6:30 p.m. on game nights, or they can be purchased in advance at TicketPro https://collingwoodcolts.ticketpro.ca/.
