The Urban Economy Forum (UEF), in partnership with UN-Habitat and the Town of Collingwood, is proud to host the third Collingwood World Summit: Habitat in Towns on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

The overall theme of the summit will focus on sustainable housing and financing as a catalyst for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and in particular SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

The summit, in the context of towns, small and secondary cities, will focus on four sub-themes: housing and finance, UN SDGs Cities Initiative — Monitoring Achievement and Building Capacity for Innovation, town-level sustainability and climate change challenges and opportunities. The Collingwood World Summit: Habitat in Towns 2022 aims to continue to advocate and advance the role of small cities and towns as major drivers of regional and national sustainability.

The summit will provide participants the platform to continue the conversation on the criteria of sustainability, urban resources and financing, and architectural spatial values that are related to the quality of space. The goal of these conversations is to provide better housing solutions or alternative housing that are in alignment with the economic dimensions of towns and small cities, enhance the localization of the UN SDGs for sustainable towns and small cities, measure performance at the local level to achieve the SDGs, and review and discuss climate financing models and tools, among many other topics.

UEF’s mission is to work alongside local authorities and organizations worldwide to promote and enhance the achievement of the urban SDG by sharing practical solutions and innovative approaches on sustainable urban development globally.

In the 2020 and 2021 summits, the organizing partners have established a national and global network of stakeholders in towns, which has presented great opportunities for collaboration for the realization of the UN SDGs, particularly SDG 11 — sustainable cities and communities — at the scale of towns and small cities.

We welcome all town leaders, public- and private-sector partners, urban activists, academics, and civil society to join us in this important ongoing dialogue. Please visit our website for more information on the third Collingwood World Summit and to register for this exciting event.
