Club steps up to cover Rainbows Georgian Triangle costs

Optimist Club of Collingwood provides $3,500 to local organization
Rainbows Georgian Triangle recently received a $3,500 donation from the Optimist Club of Collingwood.

The Optimist Club of Collingwood awarded Rainbows Georgian Triangle with a cheque for $3,500 on Jan. 17 to cover operating expenses for 2023 programs.

The local non-profit is solely run by volunteers and 100 per cent of donor funds are used in the delivery of the programming.

Rainbows offers peer support to assist children, adolescents and adults who are grieving death, divorce, separation, abandonment, foster care, deployment, serious family illness or other traumatic circumstances.

Rainbows Georgian Triangle is still accepting registrations for their program, which starts on Jan. 24.

The program is open to families from Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview, Blue Mountains, and the surrounding area.

Rainbows volunteer facilitators have helped nearly four million youth in 18 countries since 1983. Rainbows is endorsed by courts, educational systems, churches, and mental health professionals.

Three levels are offered by Rainbows Georgian Triangle:

  • Sunbeams — ages four-and-a-half to five
  • Rainbows — ages six to 14
  • Spectrum — grades nine to 12
  • Prism — parents of youth in the program

Programs run twice yearly: fall (September to December) and spring (January to May).

Support groups meet in the evening, once per week for 14 weeks.

Rainbows Georgian Triangle is grateful to all our community partners for their generosity: Optimist Club of Collingwood, Blue Mountain Village Foundation, Huronia Community Foundation, Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation, Elephant Thoughts Educational Outreach, Trinity United Church Collingwood, Meridian Credit Union Collingwood, Imaginarium Adventures in Art, Toppers Pizza Collingwood, Boston Pizza Collingwood, Metro Collingwood.
