Christmas comes to Collingwood (20 photos)

Santa Claus parade, lighting of the downtown Christmas tree and fireworks over the harbour kicked off the holiday season on Saturday night

The Christmas season has begun in Collingwood and Santa was here for the launch.

Downtown businesses marked the start of the season with live windows, and other Christmas activities downtown. Town staff and the Downtown Collingwood BIA made sure the lights and decorations were shining bright for the official launch tonight.

The Santa Claus Parade began at 5 p.m. and the man in red himself rode his sleigh along the parade route. After the parade finished, the downtown Christmas tree was lit by Santa himself.

To cap off the evening, there were fireworks over the harbour.
