Among this year's inductees into the Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI) Black and Gold Society is Ryan Potter

The Black and Gold Society started in 1998 as a way to recognize graduates who had exceptional high school athletic careers and went on to achieve great things in sports after high school. The society also honours those who have worked to pioneer and build CCI athletics in their careers as athletes, coaches, and teachers at CCI.

From 1973 to 1978, Ryan excelled at football, basketball and track and field at CCI, before heading to the University of Western Ontario for four years as running back. His team was Yates Cup (OUA) Championships in 1979 and 1981, and he was named the MVP in both outings. He was an OUA All-Star in 1986. Ryan was drafted to the BC Lions where he played from 1982 to 1985 including two Grey Cup games. His team was Grey Cup Champions in 1985. He finished his professional career with the Calgary Stampeders.

Potter, 10 other athletes, and three builders will be inducted into the Black and Gold Society during a ceremony on Sept. 21 as part of the CCI 160th anniversary reunion.
