The man accused of killing two men in Collingwood earlier this month, made an appearance in court today.
Cameron Gardiner, 57, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder after a shooting at a residence on Matthew Way on Jan. 22 that left Dean Copkov and Donovan Bass dead.
Gardiner was due in court to be spoken to, but he is still in police custody. He appeared under OPP escort and sat in an enclosed bench behind a locked door. Multiple uniformed officers were also in the courtroom today and left once Gardiner left the room.
Gardiner appeared in court in Collingwood today represented by lawyer, Elliott Willschick, who said he is working with Toronto lawyer, Robb MacDonald, on the case.
Willschick asked the judge to allow Gardiner to come back Feb. 12 to be spoken to. Willschick said he was waiting on disclosure (a copy of the evidence the Crown and police have for a case), before a bail hearing could be arranged.
