A CCI grad with a talent fore sports

Among this year's inductees into the Collingwood Collegiate Institute (CCI) Black and Gold Society is Mike Jackson, a graduate with a 45-year career in amateur golf.

The Black and Gold Society started in 1998 as a way to recognize graduates who had exceptional high school athletic careers and went on to achieve great things in sports after high school. The society also honours those who have worked to pioneer and build CCI athletics in their careers as athletes, coaches and teachers at CCI.

Jackson was a multisport athlete at CCI but Golf became his passion. He played in 40 provincial Championships winning seven and is ranked #1 or #2 as the Ontario Senior Amateur from 2008 to 2015. He played 30 Golf Canada Canadian Championships placing in the top 15 on several occasions. He has won two United States Seniors tournaments and 50 and counting, invitational and open amateur tournaments in over 45 years of amateur golf. Jackson is the current President of the Canadian Senior Golf Association has been the Captain of the Devonshire Cup (USA vs CAN). He has been Inducted into the Collingwood Sports Hall of Fame is the chairperson of Collingwood Community Living Golf Tournament, and is a Paul Harris Award winner.

Jackson, 10 other athletes, and three builders will be inducted into the Black and Gold Society during a ceremony on Sept. 21 as part of the CCI 160th anniversary reunion.
