176 new COVID cases in Simcoe-Muskoka since Friday

17 cases in Wasaga Beach, 1 in Collingwood, 1 in Clearview

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 176 new COVID-19 cases since Friday in its latest update posted Nov. 22.

The new cases reported in the region today are as follows:  

  • Collingwood (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old whose case is still under investigation. 
  • Clearview (1): One person between 18 and 34 old whose case is still under investigation. 
  • Wasaga Beach (17): One person between 18 and 34 years old, seven people between 35 and 44 years old, six people between 45 and 64 years old, and three people between 65 and 79 years old. Two cases are listed as community-acquired ( no known link) and the rest are under investigation. 
  • Barrie (72): Thirteen youth under 18 years old, 16 people between 18 and 34 years old, 18 people between 35 and 44 years old, 15 people between 45 and 64 years old, seven people between 65 and 79 years old, and three people over 79 years old. Five cases are listed as community-acquired, three are outbreak-related, six are linked to close contact, and one is linked to travel. The rest of the cases are still under investigation. 
  • Springwater (3): One youth under 18 years old, one person between 18 and 34 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. All three cases are still under investigation. 
  • Innisfil (15):  Four youth under 18 years old, four people between 18 and 34 years old, six people between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. One case is outbreak-related, one is listed as community-acquired, and one is linked to close contact transmission. The remaining cases are still under investigation. 
  • Bradford West Gwillimbury (6): Three youth under 18 years old, one person between 18 and 34 years old, and two people between 35 and 44 years old. One case is linked to travel, one is linked to close contact transmission, and one is listed as community-acquired. The other three cases are still under investigation. 
  • Orillia (8): Two youth under 18 years old, three people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, one person between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. One case is outbreak-related, and. one is listed as community-acquired (no known link). The rest of the cases are still under investigation. 
  • Oro-Medonte (3): One person between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. All three cases are still under investigation.  
  • Ramara (2):  One youth under 18 years old and one person between 45 and 64 years old. Both cases are still under investigation. 
  • Midland (4): Two people between 35 and 44 years old, one person between 45 and 64 years old, and one person between 65 and 79 years old. All four cases are still under investigation.
  • Severn (5): Two youth and three people between 35 and 44 years old. One case is outbreak-related, one is linked to close contact transmission, and the other three are still under investigation. 
  • Penetanguishene (4): Two people between 18 and 34 years old, one person between 35 and 44 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. All four cases are still under investigation. 
  • Tay (1): One person between 65 and 79 years old whose case is still under investigation. 
  • Essa (2): One between 35 and 44 years old, and one person between 45 and 64 years old. Both cases are still under investigation. 
  • New Tecumseth (7): Three youth under 18 years old, two people between 35 and 44 years old, and two people between 45 and 64 years old. One case is listed as community-acquired, two are linked to close contact transmission, and the rest are still under investigation. 
  • Adjala-Tosorontio (7): Four youth under 18 years old, one person between 18 and 34 years old, and two people between 35 and 44 years old. Four cases are linked to close contact transmission, and the rest are still under investigation. 
  • Muskoka District (18): Three people from Gravenhurst, 10 people from Bracebridge, two people from Georgian Bay Township, and three people from Huntsville. 

Included in the new cases reported today are 85 unvaccinated, nine partially vaccinated, and 82 fully vaccinated people. 

There are currently 551 active cases in the region. 

Twenty-four people from Simcoe County and two from Muskoka District are hospitalized with COVID-19. 

Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 15,076 cases of COVID-19 with 14,248 of those cases recovered and 277 cases ending in death. 

More than 74 per cent of the population living in Simcoe-Muskoka (including children) have received both doses of vaccine and 77 per cent have had at least one dose of a vaccine.

  • ESC Nouvelle Alliance (secondary school), Barrie, declared Nov. 19, two cases. 
  • ES Le Caron secondary school, Penetanguishene, declared Nov. 19, seven cases
  • Forest Hill Public School, Midhurst, declared Nov. 19, two cases
  • St. Ann's elementary school, Penetanguishene, declared Nov. 19, two cases
  • West Bayfield Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 18, six cases
  • Trillium Woods Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 18, three cases
  • Severn Shores Public School, Cumberland Beach, declared Nov. 18, six cases 
  • Emma King Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 17, eight cases
  • Maple Grove Public School, Barrie, declared Nov. 16, 12 cases
  • St. Joan of Arc Secondary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 16, two cases
  • St. Marie of the Incarnation, Bradford, declared Nov. 15, three cases
  • Monsignor Clair Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 15, five cases
  • W.C. Little Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 12, eight cases
  • Nottawa Elementary School, Clearview Township, declared Nov. 12, three cases
  • Terry Fox Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 10, seven cases.
  • Unnamed private school in Simcoe County, declared Nov. 8, two cases.
  • St. Catherine of Siena Elementary School, Barrie, declared Nov. 1, 10 cases

Outbreaks declared at St. Bernadette Elementary School in Barrie (two cases), St. Peter's Secondary School in Barrie (six cases), and at ECC Samuel-de-Champlain public school in Orillia (nine cases) are now declared over. 

Other ongoing outbreaks reported in Simcoe County include: 

  • Recreation camp in Simcoe County, declared Nov. 10, three cases
  • Mapleview Community Church, Barrie, declared Nov. 4, 27 local cases (with more cases in people who live outside the region)
  • Unnamed childcare facility, declared Nov. 8, nine cases
  • Unnamed shelter in Simcoe County, declared Nov. 19, seven cases
  • Unnamed shelter, declared Nov. 1, 26 cases
  • A second unnamed shelter, declared Nov. 8, seven cases.
