The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 141 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths in its first public update since Friday.
Both deaths reported today were Innisfil residents. One was a man over 79 years old who died on May 13. His case was linked to an institutional outbreak out of the region.
The other was a woman between 65 and 79 years old who died on May 11. Her case was linked to an outbreak in a congregate setting outside of the region.
There are 1,022 active, lab-confirmed cases in the region, most of which are in Simcoe County.
The health unit has reported 4,173 variant cases confirmed to date, with 759 of those cases still active.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 11,415 cases of COVID-19 with 9,604 of those cases recovered and 241 cases ending in death.
There are 26 people from Simcoe County and one from Muskoka District hospitalized with COVID-19, which includes three new hospitalizations since Friday's update.
To date, 248,437 people in Simcoe-Muskoka region have received their first dose of vaccination against COVID-19, which is about 39.8 per cent of the region's population. About 3.7 per cent of the population has received two doses of vaccine.
In Simcoe County, 217,560 residents (39.2 per cent of the population) have received one dose of vaccine, and 19,508 (3.5 per cent) have received two doses.

The new cases reported in Simcoe County and Muskoka District today include (case transmission is under investigation unless otherwise specified).
- Collingwood (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old.
- Wasaga Beach (3): One person between 35 and 44 years old and two people between 45 and 64 years old. One case is linked to close contact, and one is listed as community-acquired.
- Clearview (6): Two people between 18 and 34 years old, two people between 35 and 44 years old, and two people between 45 and 64 years old. Three cases are listed as community-acquired, and two are linked to close contact.
- Barrie (41): Eight youth under 18 years old, 22 people between 18 and 34 years old, three people between 35 and 44 years old, and eight tpeople between 45 and 64 years old. Twenty cases are linked to close contact transmission, 11 are listed as community-acquired, and two are outbreak-related.
- Springwater (3): One person between 18 and 34 years old, and two people between 45 and 64 years old. One case is linked to close contact and one is listed as community-acquired.
- Innisfil (17): Three youth under 18 years old, one person between 18 and 34 years old, six people between 35 and 44 years old, five people between 45 and 64 years old, and two people between 65 and 79 years old. Five cases are listed as community-acquired, four are linked to close contact, and three are outbreak-related.
- Bradford West Gwillimbury (30): Four youth under 18 years old, 13 people between 18 and 34 years old, four people between 35 and 44 years old, and nine people between 45 and 64 years old. Five cases are listed as community-acquired, and 19 are linked to close contact.
- Orillia (2): Two people between 18 and 34 years old whose cases are linked to close contact.
- Oro-Medonte (3): One person between 18 and 34 years old and two people between 45 and 64 years old. One case is listed as community-acquired, and one is linked to close contact.
- Ramara (3): Two youth under 18 years old and one person between 65 and 79 years old. Two cases are linked to close contact.
- Essa (2): One youth under 18 years old, and one person between 18 and 34 years old. Both cases are linked to close contact.
- New Tecumseth (22): Three youth under 18 years old, eight people between 18 and 34 years old, three people between 35 and 44 years old, six people between 45 and 64 years old, one person between 65 and 79 years old, and one person over 79 years old. Two cases are listed as community-acquired, two are outbreak-related, and 13 are linked to close contact.
- Adjala-Tosorontio (1): One person between 45 and 64 years old whose case is listed as community-acquired.
- There are six new cases in Muskoka, three from Muskoka Lakes, one from Gravenhurst, and two from Bracebridge.
