The following letter was submitted in response to a story entitled: Mayor Brian Saunderson to take leave of absence starting April 20.

*****

I am not impressed by Brian Saunderson's announced leave of absence. Paid or unpaid. Most people in high positions resign from those posts to devote time to being elected.

I believe Brian got into the enviable position to run to become an MPP with the undue influence of Doug Ford appointing him without the viable opposition of people like Stella Ambler.

He is acclaimed to run unfettered, and if he does not win the election (and I hope he does not), he can simply march back to his old job as mayor of Collingwood.

The town deserves better than this.
