Last week we were reading about a new archway to be installed in town by the downtown business association. It doesn't read "Welcome to Collingwood" but one would hope that is the intention.

This week, we read that paid parking at Millennium Park is just a vote away. The council members sound like the revenue from parking is more attractive than welcoming people from out of the area to come and spend some time and money in our shops, restaurants and attractions.

If a trip to Collingwood starts with a $50 parking fee, some tourists will think twice about coming. It's already costing more to drive here.

Also, I trust the town administration can figure out how to renew our resident passes. That was an unwieldy procedure for many.
