Ontario confirms 134 new COVID cases today

There are 1,360 remaining active cases in the province according to today's epidemiological summary

Ontario's daily report of new COVID-19 cases in the province is up slightly over the past two days with 134 new cases reported today. 

For the past two days, Ontario has reported a record low number of new cases with 76 cases reported July 29 and 89 reported on July 30. 

Today's new cases include 60 people between the ages of 20 and 39 years old, 32 people aged 19 and under, and 27 people between the ages of 40 and 59 years old. There have also been 13 more cases reported in health care workers employed at long-term care facilities in the province. 

Windsor-Essex County, which is the only area in the province still in Stage 2 of the Ontario reopening plan, reported 24 new cases for today's update. Toronto reported 19 new cases, Peel reported 20 cases, and Ottawa reported 26 cases. 

Sixteen of the province's health units reported zero new cases according to the Ontario epidemiological summary, which uses information collected as of 4:30 p.m. yesterday. 

Public Health Ontario has reported three deaths today, all individuals over the age of 80 years old. 

The province has now reported 2,775 deaths related to COVID-19. To-date, there have been 39,209 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario and 35,074 are now listed as recovered. 

There are 1,360 remaining active cases in the province, including 78 people who are hospitalized. There are 29 patients in intensive care with COVID-19 and 15 patients on ventilators.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 658 cases of COVID-19 to date, with 627 of those cases located in Simcoe County. There are 601 cases now recovered and 36 people have died in the region. The health unit indicates there are 21 active cases in the region – all in Simcoe County – and four of those cases are hospitalized.

In Simcoe Muskoka, the incidence rate for the coronavirus is 110.7 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
