While one case was added to the number of COVID-19 cases in Simcoe-Muskoka since the last update prior to Canada Day, one was also removed, meaning the total number of cases in the area is still at 602.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported today the new case is in New Tecumseth.

The New Tecumseth case is a woman between 65 and 79 years old. The source of infection is listed as close contact.

One case previously reported as municipality 'pending' was removed as it was assigned to another public health unit.

Sixteen more cases have recovered since Thursday’s update.

Four people remain in hospital being treated for the virus. There have been no new hospitalizations since the last update.

Since the health crisis began in March, 36 people have died locally from the coronavirus.
