The region's health unit has confirmed 22 new COVID cases in Simcoe County today.
Among the new cases are three Clearview residents and one man from Wasaga Beach.
The Clearview cases include two women and one man between 18 and 34 years old. All three cases are under investigation. The Wasaga Beach man is also between 18 and 34 years old, but his case is attributed to close-contact transmission.
There are three new cases in Barrie today, including a boy under 18, a man between 45 and 64 years old, and another man between 65 and 79 years old. All three cases are under investigation.
There are four new Innisfil cases today, including two women and one man between 45 and 64 years old and a woman over the age of 80. One of the cases is attributed to community transmission, and the rest of the cases are under investigation.
Bradford has three new cases today, two women and one male, all between the ages of 18 and 34 years old, and all under investigation.
There are two cases in New Tecumseth, both women between 45 and 64 years old. One case is under investigation and the other has been linked to a workplace outbreak.
Two Penetanguishene residents have tested positive for COVID-19, including a boy under 18 and a woman between 35 and 44 years old. Both are attributed to close-contact transmission.
The remaining four cases reported by the health unit today include a woman between 65 and 79 years old from Tiny Township, a Ramara woman between 45 and 64 years old, an Essa woman between 18 and 34 years old, and a woman from Adjala-Tosorontio between 18 and 34 years old. The latter case is linked to a workplace outbreak, and the other three cases are under investigation.
Since Oct. 19, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 111 new cases of COVID-19 in the Simcoe-Muskoka region.
According to the health unit's COVID-19 monitoring dashboard, the region's overall response status is still in yellow with three of four measurements in the yellow range. Laboratory testing turnaround times are still in the red range, with the health unit reporting fewer than 30 per cent of tests are being turned around within a day, and less than 60 per cent of tests are being turned around in two days.
Public health system capacity has, however, improved with the health unit reaching 87 per cent of confirmed COVID-19 cases within a day, and 83 per cent of high-risk contacts within a day.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,232 cases of COVID-19, with 1,155 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,035 cases listed as recovered. Four people are currently hospitalized. The health unit has recorded 47 deaths.
The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 219 cases per 100,000 people.
