Police, fire, and ambulance vehicles from Collingwood, Clearview, Wasaga Beach, and The Blue Mountains paraded by the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital this evening in a show of support for hospital staff at the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The noisy salute took place at 7:30 p.m. The trucks were at the hospital on March 30 and returned tonight (April 2) for round two. There's a movement, both locally and beyond, to cheer loudly and make some noise every evening at 7:30 p.m. in support of frontline workers. In Collingwood, some have started banging pots from their porches or driveways for a few seconds.
The parade was augmented by a sparse (and separated) crowd of people in the parking lot cheering.
Hospital staff stepped outside the doors, many in full PPE, to wave and cheer back.
