Public Health Ontario is again announcing fewer than 100 new cases of COVID-19 today with 89 lab-confirmed cases reported in today's update.
Yesterday, the province reported 76 new cases, a record low number matched only in the early days of the pandemic.
About half of today's new cases (43 cases) are people between 20 and 39 years old, and 21 of today's cases were individuals between the ages of 40 and 59 years old.
Six of the province's health units reported more than five cases with the remaining 28 reporting between zero and five new cases for today's Public Health Ontario update.
Windsor-Essex reported 15 new cases, Toronto reported 10 new cases, Peel reported 12 new cases, and Ottawa reported 15 new cases.
There were three more deaths reported today, including two people between the ages of 60 and 79 and one person over the age of 80.
The data included in the update uses information submitted by the province's hospitals, long term care homes, and health units as of 4:30 p.m. the day before the report is published.
Public Health Ontario has reported a total of 39,075 lab-confirmed cases as of July 29, and of those 34,906 are now listed as recovered. According to the province, 2,772 people have died with COVID-19.
There are 1,397 active cases of COVID-19 in Ontario as of yesterday, and 84 of those people are hospitalized with 27 patients in intensive care and 16 patients on ventilators.
Since yesterday's report, there have been 27,676 coronavirus tests processed and there are another 28,267 awaiting results.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 655 cases of COVID-19 to date, with 624 of those cases located in Simcoe County. There are 593 cases now recovered and 36 people have died in the region. The health unit indicates there are 26 active cases in the region – all in Simcoe County – and three of those cases are hospitalized.
In Simcoe Muskoka, the incidence rate for the coronavirus is 110.2 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
