Collingwood’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre will be closed on weekends beginning tomorrow.

Marie LaRose, executive director for the Georgian Bay Family Health Team, said the centre has had little-to-no volume of patients over the last 10 weekends.

The assessment centre is reducing its hours and will now be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

The centre will be closed tomorrow and Sunday, but the Georgian Bay Family Health Team will still respond to phone calls and respond to online waitlist requests this weekend.

The centre is still only testing symptomatic people, as per the directive from public health.

Testing is done by appointment only, and you can book an appointment without a referral by calling 705-444-5885, or online here.

There were three new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Simcoe County today, but none in Collingwood or the surrounding municipalities.

There remain three cases of COVID-19 in residents at Collingwood Nursing Home, but no further cases have been reported in residents or staff as a result of the outbreak.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reporting there have been 15 cases in Collingwood residents so far, which is down from 16 reported yesterday. The health unit will remove a case when the person who was infected (whether or not they have recovered) moves out of the region.

In total, 11 of the 15 cases have now been reported as recovered.

Wasaga Beach has had 13 confirmed cases, with 10 reported recoveries and one death. Clearview has had seven cases with six recoveries and one death.

In The Blue Mountains there have been five reported cases.

Public Health Ontario has reported 441 new cases of COVID-19 today, as well as 28 more deaths.

Today’s essential worker of the day is Charlotte Lewins-Matthews.

CollingwoodToday would like your help in recognizing local essential workers from health care workers, physicians, cashiers and delivery drivers. If you'd like to say thanks to someone you know, please send a photo, their name, their job title, and your words of thanks to [email protected].
