COVID-19: Here's the situation in Collingwood today

COVID-19 continues to spread in the province, with 151 more lab-confirmed cases reported today. Collingwood General and Marine Hospital reports its staff have completed 108 COVID-19 tests on site since March 16.

COVID-19 continues to spread in the province, with 151 more lab-confirmed cases reported today.

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital reports its staff have completed 108 COVID-19 tests on site since March 16.

Regionally, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 35 cases in Simcoe County and Muskoka as of Friday. The health unit has stated it will not be updating the case count until Monday.

Donations of personal protective equipment continue to flow into Collingwood’s hospital, and CGMH officials have said the hospital is still looking for unopened boxes/packages of N95 masks, nitrile (non-latex) disposable gloves (especially size XXL), and disposable surgical masks. The hospital is also looking for new, wrapped goggles and face shields. Both of which must meet health and safety standards.

Donations can be dropped off at the entrance of the COVID-19 assessment centre, and donors should not enter the tent.

A Collingwood community got together for a surprise tribute for one of their neighbours who has worked in policing for 30 years. She arrived home from a long week of work on Friday to find her neighbours had made and signed a big heart and placed it on her front lawn to show their support to her and other essential workers during the pandemic.
