NEWS RELEASE
COLLINGWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY
***************************
On Monday, Aug. 10, the Collingwood Public Library will be reopening the first floor to patrons to browse their fiction and children’s sections.

“We are excited to open the first floor of the library,” says Chief Executive Officer, Ken Haigh. “This will allow for patrons to browse our fiction section, children’s books, and DVDs on their own. It’s a great step towards normalcy.”

Patrons that wish to check out a book from the second floor (non-fiction and teen) will simply need to ask a staff member for assistance.

For the safety of patrons and staff, the Collingwood Public Library has implemented the following:

  • All tables and chairs have been removed from the first floor;
  • The library will be limited to 20 patrons at a time;
  • Patrons are asked to limit themselves to 30 minutes per visit and respect the two-metre distancing rule
  • Directional arrows will guide patrons through the collections;
  • All washrooms will remain closed;
  • Room bookings will continue to be suspended.

The library will be adding an additional computer to the first floor. The time limit for computers will remain 15 minutes per use with one renewal for each patron.

The library will continue to run programs online through their website and social media pages, and storytime kits are available for pickup at the front desk.

Hours of operation will remain Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m.

For those who are not comfortable with using the library, curbside pickup is still available by placing a hold through the library’s website. Overdrive, Libby, Flipster, and the library’s app are available to browse and borrow materials. Those requiring assistance with online resources are encouraged to contact the library.
