The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 14 more COVID-19 cases in the region today, and one more COVID-related death.

A resident at Simcoe Manor long-term care home in Beeton has died. This is the sixth resident to die during the current outbreak at the county-run nursing home. There is also a new case in a female resident at the home. She is over 80 years old.

The health unit has reported 55 cases associated with the Simcoe Manor outbreak so far, including 38 residents and 17 staff. There are also five other staff cases linked to the outbreak, but those individuals live outside of the health unit's jurisdiction and are not included in the list of local cases.

Among today's reported cases are 13 individuals from Simcoe County, including six Barrie residents.

The Barrie cases include three women between 18 and 34 and a woman between 45 and 64 years old, all of whom are close contact. The other two Barrie cases – a woman between 45 and 64 years old and a man between 45 and 64 years old – are under investigation.
