Our mission at CollingwoodToday is to strengthen the communities we serve and in the spirit of strengthening the Collingwood community, we are spearheading a food drive in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank.

The holidays can be a stressful time for many families and now more than ever, the local food bank needs our help to keep the shelves stocked.

In response to that need, we asked Loblaws Collingwood to donate gift cards for our loyal readers to purchase for the food bank through an online pop-up store.

CollingwoodToday then matched whatever was purchased as a cash donation to the food bank.

But that’s not all.

We know that Collingwood is full of caring individuals and businesses who would generously donate to this initiative as well. So, we contacted a number of local businesses to see if they would also like to match reader contributions with a cash donation.

As a result, for every gift card purchased in our pop-up store from now until Dec. 15 at 12 p.m., each dollar will be matched eight times and all proceeds will go directly to the food  bank. That means your $25 donation will be turned into a $225 donation!

Here is how you can buy a gift card in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank:

  • Log in to your CollingwoodToday account (or register for free).
  • Select donate from our pop-up shop page
  • Select 'donate' from the list of items and enter your credit card details.
  • Check the 'Confirm’ button and click ‘Donate’ to confirm your purchase.
  • That's it, you did it! You gave back to our community this holiday season.

Thanks to Loblaws Collingwood for donating the giftcards for this initiative, and to the following businesses who have joined us in matching each donation: Collingwood Hyundai, Corbetts Ski + Snowboard, Forest Hill Real Estate Collingwood, Janet Piotrowski, Real Estate Broker with Royal Lepage Locations North, Leggat Blue Mountain Honda, Live Work Learn Play and Di Poce Management and Stuart Ellis IDA Pharmacy.

CollingwoodToday is proud to lead this worthwhile cause in an effort to reduce hunger and poverty in our community, particularly as the holiday season draws near.

Programs like this and support from businesses and community members - like you - help us to give back to Collingwood.
