WATCH: Seniors to receive one-time payment next month: Trudeau

COVID-19 support payments to be issued week of July 6

Update:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says that Canadian seniors who are eligible for the Old Age Security (OAS) pension and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) will receive a one-time, tax-free payment during the week of July 6.

Seniors who qualify for the OAS pension will receive a payment of $300, while GIS recipients will get an additional $200. Allowance recipients will also receive $500.

Seniors do not need to apply for the one-time payment.

There are currently 6.7 million seniors who are eligible for the OAS pension and 2.2 million who are eligible for the GIS.
