WATCH: All but three regions will enter Stage 3 of province's reopening plan

Toronto, Peel and Windsor-Essex will remain in Stage 2 for now

Update:

As of Friday at 12:01 a.m., the following regions will enter Stage 3 of the province's reopening framework:

Halton, Durham, Haldimand-Norfolk, Hamilton, Lambton, Niagara, and York Region.

Windsor-Essex, Toronto, and Peel Region will not be entering Stage 3 this week.

Original story:

Premier Doug Ford is slated to provide a COVID-19 update at Queen's Park at 1 p.m. today.

It is anticipated that Ford will give the green light for majority of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to move forward into Stage 3 of the province's reopening plan by the end of the week, but that Toronto and Peel regions will be left behind for now.

On Monday, more than 60 per cent of the new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the province were in either Toronto (26 cases), Peel Region (35 cases) or Windsor-Essex (21 cases).

Meanwhile, there were five or fewer new cases reported in 28 of Ontario’s 34 public health units.

Ford will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, and Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance, to make the announcement.

Village Media will carry the livestream, so stay tuned.
