The second annual Local Yarn Store Day will unwind this Saturday, April 27.

Local Yarn Store Day sees thousands of ‘yarnies’ across Canada going to their local shops to see unique products created specifically for LYS Day.

Local yarnies Susan Parkin and Bayley Fryer, co-owners of The Maker’s Outpost at 159 Hurontario Street (next to The Historic Gayety Theatre), invite local crafters out for a slightly different reason.

“We’re inviting our community of crocheters to create something together in celebration of LYS Day, for a good cause,” says Parkin. “We will be stitching together a community blanket and putting it on display in the store window, then auctioning it off with proceeds going to My Friend's House.”

The Maker’s Outpost is asking local crocheters to donate crocheted granny squares from four-to-six inches square in any pattern or yarn weight. Simply drop them off at the store during open hours, then come by later to see the finished product and perhaps enter a bid for the blanket.

Local crafters are invited to visit The Maker's Outpost on Local Yarn Store Day (Saturday, April 27) between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

On Saturday, shoppers will receive a free gift with purchase over $50, free patterns with yarn purchase, two-times the loyalty points on craft supplies, and locally-made treats.

Drop squares at: The Maker's Outpost, 159 Hurontario Street, Collingwood.
