Rainbows Georgian Triangle is delighted to receive a grant of $3,700 from the Collingwood Optimist Club which allows us to offer our 2024 programs for children, teens, and their parents.

Rainbows comes to the aid of grieving youth in a unique and effective way, through peer support. The programs are for families dealing with loss such as death, divorce, separation, abandonment, foster care, deployment, or grave illness of a loved one.

Rainbows provides an oasis of comfort and understanding when a child’s world has turned upside down. Rainbows gives participants a safe place to share their thoughts and feelings, let go of stress and anxiety, and to find others that are experiencing similar losses.

They receive emotional support, learn healthy ways to deal with their emotions, as well as coping strategies. They develop and enhance their social skills and learn to identify people in their lives that they can trust for ongoing support.

This year RGT will support approximately 50 grieving youth and their parents, but the ripple effect on the well-being of our community cannot be measured only by the number of attendees.

A child's unresolved grief from loss and painful family conditions tears at the fabric of our society and can result in depression, reduced academic achievement, anger issues, youth violence and substance abuse. Rainbows can help to prevent such devastating consequences.

RGT supports families in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview, and the Town of Blue Mountains. To register, or for more information: 705-446-2178 or [email protected]
