Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation is sending a big thank you to the community after its fundraising gala raised $300,000.

The care gala took place last Saturday at Blue Mountain Resort and celebrated the staff of Hospice Georgian Triangle.

“We are proud of the support of more than 320 guests who attended this year’s gala, making a major impact on end-of-life care and contributing to the ongoing offering of grief and bereavement counseling for families following the loss of a loved one,” said event chair, Paula Zubek, in a news release.

Hospice Georgian Triangle does receive some government funding, including through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, but relies on donations and community support for more than 50 per cent of its operating budget and all of its capital budget. The job of fundraising falls on the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation.

The annual gala is the foundation's largest fundraiser of the year for the organization.

“Care Gala was truly a special occasion and celebration of the outstanding commitment of our teams at hospice," said Sandra Sullivan, executive director of Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation, in the news release. "Every donation from the event makes a difference in the lives of palliative patients and their family members. It is because of our generous supporters that we are able to provide the comfort that we do every day at Campbell House and in the community providing exceptional hospice palliative care, respite care, pain and symptom management, and grief and bereavement support."

Hospice Georgian Triangle provides compassionate care at Campbell House and in the community for individuals with life-limiting illness and their families in the Town of the Blue Mountains, Collingwood, Clearview Township and Wasaga Beach. Care programs come at no cost to the user and focus on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of the patient, family and caregivers, enhancing quality of life.
