On May 8, Collingwood and Wasaga Beach McDonald's customers helped raise $20,000 for the annual McHappy Day campaign.

The two local restaurants were helped by the Manito Shrine Club and the proceeds from McHappy Day will be split between the club and the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto.

Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police also helped out for the 30th-annual McHappy Day in Wasaga Beach and in Elmvale.

McHappy Day involves more than 1,400 McDonalds restaurants raising money in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Part of the work of the charity is running houses where families can stay while their children are being cared for at a children's hospital.

"Since McHappy Day was first celebrated in 1977, McDonald’s Canada, its franchisees, and generous guests have contributed nearly $66 million for Ronald McDonald Houses and local Canadian children’s charities," states the Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario website.
