Collingwood murder trial continues with court date next month

Accused in murder of Kay Kriston was before courts today, represented by lawyers, and will be back next month for more pretrial proceedings

A murder trial involving the death of a Collingwood woman in June 2022 continues to make its way through the courts.

The matter was before Justice Michelle Fuerst in a Barrie courtroom today (Sept. 19).

Orillia resident John Collins has been charged with first-degree murder after Collingwood real estate agent Kinga 'Kay' Kriston, 55, was found dead in her Georgian Meadows home on Friday, June 10, 2022.

The case is scheduled to be back in court on Oct. 26.

Collins didn't appear in court Tuesday and won't be required to appear on Oct. 26. His legal counsel has been tasked to represent him for that date.

The details of his court appearances are under a publication ban.

The court case is still in the pre-trial phase.

Collins was 57 years old when he was charged.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
